Torque Measuring Device

Scope of Project

2016

The device created for this project will serve to measure the torsional output of an air motor. For this device to function properly, a mounting system will need to be created to hold the air motor. The current mount is too rigid and keeps the air motor from moving. Due to this inconvenience, a new mount will be created to hold the air motor so that the body of the air motor will rotate freely about its center of rotation. With the air motor freely rotating, a torque measuring device can be connected to the body of the motor. The beam is then connected to a column that will transmit the torsional force from the air motor to the load cell. Using this process, the torsional output of the motor will be measured and not the torsional output of the shaft.

Currently the project is under construction
